Marguerite Gutierrez aka Maji was first introduced to dance by her father who taught her Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia & Salsa at age 12. She was raised listening & dancing to several Latin dance genres growing up including South American folklore music.
She furthered her dance training in NYC where she excelled in Salsa On2, social dance & performance with Delille Thomas, Nelson Flores & Antonio Doza. She additionally learned other disciplines of dance on Edwin Ferrara’s dance performance fusion team.
Maji has helped host, perform & teach at several festivals including Dallas Bachata Festival, DCBX, LA Summer Bachata Festival, CSBF, Wisconsin Salsa Bachata Open, Salsa Fiesta Trinidad & Tobago & Bachateando Miami.
She has taught Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia & Chacha in Chicago for the past year. She also directs a beginner-intermediate co-ed & all ladies performance teams known as Se Mueve Salsa & Mueve Ladies at Urbanity Dance Chicago.
