The pandemic brought a slew of challenges to us all throughout 2020. Whether it was changes in our personal or professional lives, pivoting and adapting to our new climate was necessary for survival.

To make dance more accessible for individuals under strain, we lowered our prices and adjusted our offerings to match the current circumstances; and our instructors were understanding enough to accept a cut in pay to help keep the studio afloat. Our efforts were successful in keeping us open throughout 2020, but the changes we made are not sustainable long term.

In order to recover from the massive financial strain that we suffered last year and also reinstate the original payrates for our hard-working instructors, we need to start returning to our pre-pandemic pricing. It is important to us to be upfront, fair, and affordable for our clients, which is why we’re giving advance notice and have done our best to make increases as modest as possible. We hope that you understand and that we continue to have your support throughout this transition.

Since we are not completely full-service yet, our pricing adjustments will happen in 2 phases to ensure fair pricing that falls in line with the amount of services being offered. Phase 1 will be in effect at the start of the March session. Phase 2 will not be implemented until we are able to offer all pre-pandemic services and ample notice will be given before those changes are made. Please see below for our new updated Phase 1 pricing as well as some special sales and new membership perks we hope you’ll be excited about.

Drop In Classes: $20 4-Week Classes: 1-Pack $65 | 2-Pack $120 | 3-Pack $150

SPECIAL FLASH SALE ON 10-CLASS PASS: Stock up on 10-Class Passes for 2021 at the $95.00 rate before our pass price increases to $140 starting March 1st! No limit, no minimum! Passes will not expire.

NEW FULL PASS MEMBERSHIP PERKS: For $200/month, not only will you recieve access to all classes, you'll now also receive 50% off special workshops and performance challenges taught by Urbanity staff PLUS 15% off all Urbanity Gear.

Please do not hesitate to come to us with any questions or concerns. We value each and every one of you and want you to feel comfortable with this transition. Stay warm!

Wedding Dance Series Part 2: Wardrobe Tips for Your Wedding Dance

These need to know Wedding dance wardrobe tips will definitely boost your confidence on the big day.

Here are some things we keep in mind to avoid unwanted surprises during your Wedding dance:

Prepare for your Wedding dance by simulating your wardrobe choices for the big day, and the restrictions that come with, during your dance lessons.  Whether you’re practicing for your First Dance, Parent’s Dance, or Bridal Party Dance, these Wedding day wardrobe tips will come in handy!

Shoes!

About half  way through your wedding dance lesson package, you want to start practicing in the shoes you’ll be wearing the day of.

Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #1.:  Pick a Latin or Ballroom dance shoe, for both brides and grooms to be, to rock on your Wedding day.

Not only are they the most comfortable for dancing, but dance shoe brands these days are really bringing their A-game when it comes to creating fashionable, yet comfortable, styles.

Hair!

Your hair style is the element that causes the least concern, but it’s good to cover all of your bases just in case! Make sure your moves don’t interfere with your beautiful up-do or risk knocking off your tiara.  Want to feel extra prepared?

Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #2.: Schedule your trial bridal hair appointment on the same day of your dance lesson.

It’s a great way to test out your stylist’s work and make sure it lasts until the final minutes of your wedding reception.

Silhouette!

Tell your instructor about your dress silhouette on your first lesson so they can plan accordingly.  A dance with elongated steps will need to be adjusted for a mermaid-style dress. Cinderella ballgowns will require practice time for the leader to adjust to such a big dress. (It’s hard to lead properly when you have no idea where your partner’s legs are!)  Although it’s easier to dance in a tuxedo than a wedding dress, this all still applies to the tux.

Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #3.: Practice in something that resembles your wedding dress or jacket silhouette towards the end of your lessons.

This will help make both of you comfortable while dancing. It also gives your instructor a chance to make adjustments if anything is uncomfortable.
