Wedding Dance Series Part 2: Wardrobe Tips for Your Wedding Dance
These need to know Wedding dance wardrobe tips will definitely boost your confidence on the big day.
Here are some things we keep in mind to avoid unwanted surprises during your Wedding dance:
Prepare for your Wedding dance by simulating your wardrobe choices for the big day, and the restrictions that come with, during your dance lessons. Whether you’re practicing for your First Dance, Parent’s Dance, or Bridal Party Dance, these Wedding day wardrobe tips will come in handy!
Shoes!
About half way through your wedding dance lesson package, you want to start practicing in the shoes you’ll be wearing the day of.
Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #1: Pick a Latin or Ballroom dance shoe, for both brides and grooms to be, to rock on your Wedding day.
Not only are they the most comfortable for dancing, but dance shoe brands these days are really bringing their A-game when it comes to creating fashionable, yet comfortable, styles.
Hair!
Your hair style is the element that causes the least concern, but it’s good to cover all of your bases just in case! Make sure your moves don’t interfere with your beautiful up-do or risk knocking off your tiara. Want to feel extra prepared?
Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #2: Schedule your trial bridal hair appointment on the same day of your dance lesson.
It’s a great way to test out your stylist’s work and make sure it lasts until the final minutes of your wedding reception.
Silhouette!
Tell your instructor about your dress silhouette on your first lesson so they can plan accordingly. A dance with elongated steps will need to be adjusted for a mermaid-style dress. Cinderella ballgowns will require practice time for the leader to adjust to such a big dress. (It’s hard to lead properly when you have no idea where your partner’s legs are!) Although it’s easier to dance in a tuxedo than a wedding dress, this all still applies to the tux.
Wedding Dance Wardrobe Tip #3: Practice in something that resembles your wedding dress or jacket silhouette towards the end of your lessons.
This will help make both of you comfortable while dancing. It also gives your instructor a chance to make adjustments if anything is uncomfortable.
